The Problem

For Hera’s transformation into Sabrina Carpenter for Bands as Bands, the creative challenge was clear: to capture and convey a vibe that was both romantic and flirty, yet youthful and effortlessly fun—all within a tight timeframe and under pressure. The look needed to translate seamlessly on stage and in photos, balancing soft, flowy textures with the bold glow of ’70s glam, while maintaining a cinematic, nostalgic warmth. Achieving this nuanced blend of playful confidence and dreamy romance was key to making the transformation authentic and striking.

We leaned into a fast-paced but intentional collaboration.

Creative Direction & Styling: We drew inspiration from Sabrina’s signature aesthetic—soft lighting, romantic textures, and playful sensuality.

Team Collaboration: Partnered with makeup artist Muriel and hairstylist Jer to craft a cohesive look.

Photoshoot Prep: Held a pre-show trial session to test the look, with a quick-turn shoot to capture Hera in character.

Studio Set Design: Designed a dreamy setting using drapes, candles, and roses for that classic pop-princess energy.
